Abi, Madison and Hannah are just some of the students in Kea Class who are bringing a rubbish free lunch box to school. Welł done!
Welcome to our class blog! We are a class of Year 3 and 4 students and our school is at the top of the beautiful South Island. We hope you enjoy reading what we have been learning about.

Holy Week
The last week of term was Holy Week. This is the week when we remember all the things that happened to Jesus before Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Our class retold the story of Palm Sunday when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey and all the people cheered and treated him like a king.
Shrove Tuesday
On Shrove Tuesday which is the day before Ash Wednesday, we had a pancake race with Weka Class. The tradition of Shrove Tuesday began when people used to use up all their "luxury" foods before Lent began. People would fast from foods such as eggs and butter during Lent.
The Stopping Demonstration
We walked around to Herbert St in Richmond to learn about road safety around cars. We watched a car travel at three different speeds and saw what happened if you go faster than the speed limit. We saw that the car could not slow down fast enough and it hit the "pretend" people. They used tomato sauce as fake blood!
ANZAC and the Animals
We have been learning about how animals helped the soldiers during World War One and where the name ANZAC came from. We went to
the Nelson Museum and we saw some of the things soldiers used in WW1. We saw a tent, some things for cooking with and a morse code machine. We also saw some uniforms.
Swimming
We enjoyed improving our swimming skills at the Aquatic Centre. On the last day we had fun with our teachers when they threw us up in the air and we splashed down like a cannon ball!
