Move It Day for Caritas

On Wednesday 16 April the students of Saint Paul’s School, Richmond, Nelson participated in a fund raising day to raise money for the Caritas Solomon Islands Appeal. The first part of the day saw the students doing wide range of physical activities to benefit the school. The activities ranged from pulling weeds and mulching the school gardens to collecting rubbish and sweeping the classroom courtyards. At lunchtime the children were able to buy lunch for a gold coin donation and this was followed by fun lunchtime activities such as jump jam, tennis and scooters. At the end of lunch they all gathered to have a photograph taken with the Solomon Islands flag that was provided by one of the children who have family and friends who come form the Solomon Islands. The day raised $350.00

Scooter Safety

This week we had some visitors to our school who showed us how to fit our cycling and scootering helmet properly. They taught us the "two finger" rule. 1. You should only be able to get two fingers between your chin strap and your chin. 2. You should only have a two finger width between the top of your eyebrows and the edge of your helmet. 3. Your strap should fit neatly, either side of your ears, like a "V" for victory sign. We also found out how to check and cross safely at the zebra crossing and across driveways. Safe scootering everyone!
